Kathy had been uncomfortable with her size for a long time, but it wasn’t until she saw photos of herself at a family wedding that she decided to take action.
“When we got the photos back, I cried. I felt like a big frump. The following week, on January 16, 2008, I joined up.”
Inspired by her sister’s success on the Tony Ferguson Weightloss Program, Kathy found it was also the ideal system for her lifestyle.
“Over the years I’d tried other programs, but using the shakes was so much easier. I never used to eat breakfast or lunch, so by the time I was driving home from work, I’d be so hungry I’d eat rubbish, then eat a meal, then go to bed. Being on the Program has made me wiser when it comes to eating.
But I was determined to lose the weight. I was very affected by those photos from the wedding. The weight came off slowly, but I lost something each week, which was encouraging. Then one day I was buying size 12 off the rack and I thought, wow!”
At 50, Kathy now wears a size 10 (dropping from size 22) and has never felt better.
“It would be nice to get down to 60kg, but I don’t need to lose more. I’m happy with where I am.”
Other people have been inspired by her transformation too.
“That’s been the most amazing thing – the domino effect. There are so many people at work on the shakes now. It’s fun to watch them lose weight and share in their joy.
And I’m more confident and active now. A few weeks into my weight loss journey, my partner of nine years proposed to me, which was so exciting! We recently got married and I was thrilled to fit into a size 10 dress. Looking back at my ‘before’ photos, I can’t believe it was me – with my short hair and frumpy clothes. I’ve grown my hair now and I feel so much more feminine. If I was content before, now I’m totally happy.”
