Success Story - Kylie Fairley
When starting on the Tony Ferguson Weightloss Program, Kylie Fairley had almost lost everything. Her marriage had crumbled and her doctor had warned her life was in danger unless she did something about her weight, which had ballooned after she had her two daughters, now aged 11 and 8.
"My doctor told me if I didn't do anything about my weight I'd be dead at 45. That was a big wake-up call. My mum had a heart attack at 42, and I could end up the same. I want to be here for my girls."
Kylie's cholesterol was dangerously high and her doctor suspected she had gallstones.
Although she'd already lost 15 kilograms using prescription weight loss medications, Kylie's first weigh-in saw her at 101 kilograms. She says the weight loss pills sent her high as a kite. "Within a week of coming off them, I felt like a mental patient – that's when I thought, 'I have to find another way to lose the weight'."
After just eight months on the Program, Kylie lost a staggering 32 kilograms.
"I set myself a goal of 79 kilograms, and when I hit it, I thought, 'I can go further', so my next goal was 73 kilograms."
A large part of Kylie's success was the support from her local Terry White Chemists.
"If it wasn't for the girls there, I wouldn't have been able to do it. They keep me motivated something brilliant! They rang every week and if I didn't come in they'd call to make sure I was okay."
Even when Kylie failed to lose weight, she says the girls at Terry White kept up the encouragement.
"They'd say, you've still lost centimetres so don't worry."
Best of all, Kylie's personal life has now turned around.
"The greatest moment was when my husband came back to me. We had separated, and I saw him about two months after I'd lost the weight. He said, 'Oh my God, you're the girl I used to know.' Now we're back together and the happiest we've been in years.
Losing the weight has been the most right thing I've ever done in my life – and the hardest. I've changed completely, and it's brilliant."
