“When I had a heart attack at 37, the doctors told me I must not smoke again so I gave up, cold turkey. To reduce the risk of another heart attack my doctor said I needed to also reduce my weight. I seemed to put it on way easier than I could take it off.
I had done the Weight Watchers Program about twelve years earlier with great initial success but I found it very hard coming up with three meals a day to suit the requirements. I lost weight at first but eventually put it back on.
Some friends of mine were doing really well on the Tony Ferguson Program. I remember thinking, “meal replacement shakes – that has to be a lot easier than trying to come up with three meals every day...”
The crunch came around July 2008 when my doctor told me my blood sugar levels were now in the low ranges of early stage Type 2 Diabetes. He said if I became diabetic the chances of a repeat heart attack would increase significantly. I didn’t want that to happen so I joined Tony Ferguson at Liverpool right away. At the time I weighed 105.4 kilograms and was 111 centimetres around the waist.
After two months I weighed 90.1 kilograms and my waist was down to 95 centimetres. More tests showed my blood sugar levels and blood pressure had improved and I had more energy than I’d had in years.
I continued with Tony Ferguson and just before Christmas 2008 I weighed 85.4 kilograms and my waist was 92 centimetres. Christmas came and went and even though I splashed out during the holidays, when I weighed in on January 29 I was 85.2 kilograms. That’s a total weight loss of 20.2 kilograms.
My health, my family and I all thank Tony Ferguson.”
